The government is playing its last card. While the controversial low-emission zones, which restrict the most polluting vehicles from circulating in major cities, are threatened by recent parliamentary votes, the executive will attempt a new maneuver to save them on Tuesday afternoon. This will coincide with the solemn vote on the bill aimed at simplifying economic life. Expected for weeks, the Prime Minister had postponed the vote to allow some ministers to negotiate behind the scenes and reach a consensus to finalize the text.

It all started over a year ago within the special commission to simplify economic life in the National Assembly. The Right-Republican group’s Ian Boucard and the National Rally group’s Pierre Meurin managed to move things forward in this context.
