War in Ukraine: an absolutely incredible technology, the United States wants access to Ukrainian drones.

The agreement has not been finalized yet, but discussions are increasing between Washington and Kiev. According to Bloomberg’s revelations, the US Department of Defense has requested to test a range of Ukrainian defense products for a potential purchase.

The United States is seeking a technology transfer in exchange for an agreement on drones. In return, Kiev is seeking to acquire Patriot air defense systems and missiles.

“Strengthening the power of our armed forces”

At the beginning of the month, the United States submitted a proposal to Kiev requesting tests to be conducted on Ukrainian military equipment on American soil, with the prospect of contracts at stake.

“Following the work carried out with the State Department and the Pentagon, a draft framework document has been prepared and is currently being reviewed by both parties at various institutional levels,” said the Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, Olha Stefanishyna, in a statement. “We are determined to establish mutually beneficial cooperation that will strengthen the power of our armed forces.”

The advancements of the Ukrainian army in the field of drones have been praised by the US administration for several months. “It has an absolutely incredible network of drones,” said Army Secretary Dan Driscoll. “They fully integrate each drone, sensor, and firing platform within a single unified network. That is not the case with ours.”

More than just a technology transfer, Washington is also looking to negotiate intellectual property rights with Kiev. The US military could thus test Ukrainian systems before replicating them according to their needs.
