This file, a true sticking point in relations between the two countries for decades, has overshadowed other points of contention. Among them: Lebanon or the Strait of Hormuz. Iran reportedly suggests, according to the Wall Street Journal, a gradual reopening and simultaneous lifting of the blockade by American ships. As for nuclear matters, Tehran would prefer to “dilute”
some of its enriched uranium and send the rest to a “third country.”
A new development: until now, authorities wanted to postpone the nuclear issue. Despite this progress, Washington is not satisfied.

“Iran has been leading the United States and the rest of the world astray for 47 years
,” reiterated the American president, adding that the Iranians “make fun of our country, which has now regained its greatness!
” Washington and many countries suspect Tehran of seeking nuclear weapons through uranium enrichment, which it denies, arguing for its right to civilian nuclear power.
According to inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iran had 441 kilos of enriched uranium at 60% in June 2025, close to the 90% threshold needed to make a nuclear bomb. The regime also had 180 kilos enriched at 20% and over 6 tons at 5%. After last year’s strikes and those of recent weeks, the fate of this stockpile is a mystery. Is it buried as Tehran claims? Has some of it been relocated or destroyed? The Israeli government has an idea.
