The United States said they had “targeted Iranian military installations” on Thursday after several of their ships were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, with Tehran accusing Washington of violating the ceasefire in effect for over a month.

The ceasefire is hanging by a thread. Gunfire exchanges occurred Thursday night between the United States and Iran. Tehran accused Washington of violating the ceasefire after American strikes against “Iranian military installations” in response to an attack on three American ships.

The United States, on the other hand, said they had “targeted Iranian military installations” on Thursday after several of their ships were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz. “They played with us today. We swept them aside. They played. I call it a trifle,” said the American president to journalists, adding that, according to him, the ceasefire was still in effect.

These exchanges of fire are jeopardizing the truce in place since April 8, for about a month, at a time when Washington is still awaiting a response from Tehran to its latest proposal to end the war permanently. Donald Trump called on Iran to sign an agreement “quickly” in a post on his Truth Social platform, warning of being struck “much more violently in the future” if they do not sign the agreement quickly.

“The Iran is not a normal country,” he wrote. “This country is run by crazies, and if they had the chance, they wouldn’t hesitate for a second to use a nuclear weapon. But they will never have that opportunity; and just as we neutralized them once again today, we will strike them much more severely and much more violently in the future if they do not sign their agreement, and quickly!”

“The American forces intercepted unprovoked Iranian attacks and responded with defensive strikes” after three of their missile destroyer ships were attacked while crossing the Strait of Hormuz towards the Gulf of Oman by Iranian “missiles, drones, and small boats,” justified the American command for the Middle East on X.
