The Iranian military command accused the US military of violating the ceasefire by attacking ships near the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday night into Friday, according to a statement broadcasted on state television.

The American military targeted an Iranian oil tanker leaving Iranian coasts, along with another ship, violating the ceasefire, according to the Khatam Al-Anbiya armed forces command, as reported by the Irib television channel. The US was also accused of striking the south of Iran in cooperation with other regional countries.

The Iranian forces retaliated immediately by attacking American military ships, causing significant damage, they added.

Response from the United States

The American military stated that they “responded” after an Iranian attack on several of their ships. According to a statement from the US Central Command (Centcom), “Iranian forces launched a number of missiles.” They were able to “neutralize the incoming threats and target Iranian military facilities responsible for the attacks on American forces.”

“Centcom does not seek escalation, but remains prepared to protect American forces,” it was specified.
