On April 19th, the child fell victim to an overdose of fentanyl and methamphetamine. A friend of her mother, who was using drugs at the time, was arrested. The little girl remains in critical condition.

Her health condition is more than worrying. A 7-year-old girl is currently hospitalized in a Missouri hospital in the United States after an overdose of fentanyl and methamphetamine from consuming a granita (frozen drink) filled with drugs, as reported by People. The incident took place on April 19 in Charlack, where a woman, a friend of the victim’s mother and a drug user, was arrested.

Jaslyn Raquelle Crawford, the suspect, reportedly told investigators that she was using drugs in the bathroom when the girl entered the room. American police believe that the substances ended up accidentally in the victim’s drink. During her arrest, drugs were found in Jaslyn Raquelle Crawford’s personal belongings.

“This is one of those tragic cases that sometimes occur and that we think should never happen,” said Captain Blake Carrigan of the St. Ann Police Department.

After her arrest, Jaslyn Raquelle Crawford was charged with endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree. “A bail of 250,000 dollars in cash only has been set, without the possibility of a 10% deposit,” the police said.

The prosecutor for St. Louis County, Melissa Price Smith, emphasized the danger of these substances on children’s bodies. “Even a tiny amount of fentanyl can be deadly. If a child is exposed to even a single trace, it can be enough to cause an overdose.”
