French countertenor Philippe Jaroussky was set to perform in the United States and Canada as part of his “Gelosia” tour.
However, the “heart heavy” Philippe Jaroussky has announced the cancellation of his North American tour. The French countertenor was scheduled to give five concerts at the end of April in the United States and Canada as part of his Gelosia! tour with the ensemble Artaserse.
“Dear lovers of baroque music from Boston, San Diego, Seattle, Vancouver, and Quebec, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my North American tour,” the classical artist wrote in a post shared on his Facebook page.
The reason for the cancellation of these North American dates? “Work visa problems,” explained Philippe Jaroussky in the same statement. “We will certainly do our best to reschedule! Thank you for your understanding and support,” the lyrical singer concluded.
Recurring visa issues
This news was also shared by the venues that were supposed to host Philippe Jaroussky and his ensemble in 2022: “Despite the considerable efforts made by the organizers, we were unable to resolve Philippe’s visa issue. We are collaborating with his team to find new dates.”
Before the countertenor, other French artists have recently faced visa problems, preventing them from performing overseas. This includes the American tour of Julien Doré, which was canceled in the United States last month.
