We start with breaking news: a wildfire in San Miguel County is causing evacuations and threatening structures. New video footage shows the fire crews in action, with a bright orange glow visible. The fire, located just west of Sao Paulo, has grown to about 50 acres with no containment as of the last update. Evacuations are in place for residents on Highway 266 between mile markers three and six, while those east of mile marker three are on standby to evacuate at a moment’s notice.

In addition, Mike Mateo Elementary in Sao Paulo will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow due to road closures impacting bus routes. Meanwhile, crews are working hard to contain the blaze as it continues to burn through timber, pinyon trees, and grass. The heavy smoke in the area has prompted evacuations, while an evacuation shelter has been set up at the Abe Montoya Recreation Center in Las Vegas.

The Tusas Fire has now grown to an estimated 150 acres with zero containment. Evacuations remain in place for residents along New Mexico State Road 266 between mile markers 3 and 6. The fire started around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, and is burning in the Las Tusas area west of Sapello. Private property is being threatened, with multiple structures in set and ready status. Fire crews are working tirelessly to establish containment lines and protect homes from the approaching flames.
