Duciste Marie Rougetet sets new University record in hammer throwing
It’s only April, but Duciste Marie Rougetet has made a strong impact with her performance at Mississippi State University. In a national hammer throwing competition, the young woman, a medalist at the 2025 French elite championships, set a new university record with a throw of 69.79 meters. Not only did she improve her personal best by over two meters, but she also achieved the best U23 European performance!
Five throws over 66 meters
During this American competition, the Duciste threw 5 times out of 6 over 66 meters, with a successful first attempt at 67.78 meters, before reaching over 69 meters on the 3rd throw. Previously, Marie Rougetet held a record of 67.38 meters, achieved at the junior European championships in Tampere, Finland in August 2025. This throw approaching the 70-meter mark puts her in second place in the French rankings (behind Rose Loga, 73.81 meters) and ahead of another promising talent, Florella Freyche (Entente Sud Lyonnais, 69.08 meters).
