The itinerary of King Charles III and Queen Camilla for their state visit to America from April 27th to 30th is becoming clearer. The royal couple, who will be visiting in part to mark the 250th anniversary of American Independence, will be welcomed by American President and First Lady Melania Trump in Washington DC, where several events are planned, including a speech by the king before Congress, before heading to New York and Virginia where the 77-year-old monarch and his 78-year-old wife will engage more with the public.

In New York, the couple will meet with first responders and families of the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks, just a few months before the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attack that claimed nearly 3,000 lives, before parting ways to honor personal commitments close to their own interests, as announced by Buckingham Palace.

Neighborhood celebration: Charles III will meet with entrepreneurs and visit an urban agriculture program supporting young people affected by food insecurity, while Queen Camilla will attend a literary event celebrating the 100th anniversary of Winnie the Pooh, created by British author Alan Alexander Milne. They will conclude this part of their trip together with a tribute to the King’s Trust, a program by the monarch supporting disadvantaged youth.

The king and queen will then head to Virginia, where they will attend a neighborhood celebration for the 250th anniversary of American Independence, signed in 1776 during the reign of George III, the last British king to rule over the United States until the country’s War of Independence. So no hard feelings for Charles III, who will also visit a national park to interact with Native American communities involved in nature conservation initiatives. Meanwhile, Queen Camilla will visit a horse racing farm before joining her husband for a short stay in Bermuda on May 1st and 2nd.
