Christine Salmon is preparing to turn the page. And not just any page: a page 18 years long, the length of time since which she began her local political engagementthe mairie of Roucamps.
But, successively defeated in the elections a few weeks ago to be re-elected mayor of Monts d’Aunay then become president of Pré-Bocage Intercom, the one who has always been a municipal and community councilor prepares to end all his mandates.

The intercom elections, the trigger

A decision which should take effect from Thursday May 28, 2026, date of the election of the new presidency of the SEROCto which the current president finally gave up on running.

I could have done it as a community advisor, but I didn’t want to. I will proceed with the installation of the new union council then I will end my local political career.

Christine Salmon

A decision that the former mayor of Monts d’Aunay explains having taken following the result of the intercom electionswhere she lost by a few votes to the mayor of Villers-Bocage, Stéphanie Leberrurier.

That was the triggering moment, I understood that I was no longer wanted. And in the municipal council, in opposition, we have a limited role, without being able to really participate in projects. I am a positive person, I don’t want to experience this negativity of having to constantly look for the little beast, to be in confrontation… For my health too, it’s not good.

“I think it’s a little unfairâ€

This result in the Municipal elections proved particularly difficult “ digests ».

I think it’s a bit unfair, I don’t think there are many municipal teams who leave the keys to their municipality with a surplus, 22 million euros of investment without touching the municipal budget, with essential things for a city such as the renovation of the school, the water networks, the cinema, the nursery, the football stadium, the arrival of a dentist… I am very proud of the work of my team. Afterwards it’s the game of elections, that’s life.

“There are ups and downs”

Today, Christine Salmon says she is still touchée by this period.

There are ups and downs. When we go from a full schedule to almost nothing, since I resigned from my private job at the end of 2018 to devote myself fully to my role as an elected official, this inevitably affects us. And it also hurts when we see that people continue to attack him even now, especially on social networks. Fortunately, I also received a lot of messages of support and kindness.

From now on, or rather within a few days, it will be the return to civil lifeeight years later. And the one who had first worked in commerce as a sales engineer then in administrative management intends to rely on her experience as an elected official and in waste management at SEROC to find work.

I am open to everything, always with a strong public interest, after so many years of trying to work for the collective. On the political level, for the future, I am not closed to anything, you should never say never. And even if I will no longer be on the council, I will be attentive to the future, in the hope that the new team proves me wrong, by working as best as possible for the municipality, with its own ideas, and by carrying out projects by consulting the inhabitants as it is committed to doing.
