Foreign digital interference is shaking up the 2026 municipal campaign. La France insoumise denounces attacks from Israel and takes legal action to challenge the re-election of Jean-Luc Moudenc in Toulouse, relying on a note from the RCPE. At the same time, LFI challenges the government in the National Assembly, accusing the authorities of having concealed an investigation report from Viginum.
Insoumise France counterattacks after the discovery of foreign digital interference during the 2026 municipal election campaign. Gathered in Paris, the insoumise losers François Piquemal (Toulouse) and Sébastien Delogu (Marseille) recalled their legal actions this Wednesday, supported by their lawyers.
Case is “worthy of the Legends Bureau”
For now, the administrative court of Toulouse has officially received an appeal aimed at annulling the re-election of Jean-Luc Moudenc. According to Me Xavier Sauvignet, this case is “worthy of the Bureau of Legends”. The Election Coordination and Protection Network (RCPE) published a note confirming the existence of Internet pages and fake accounts specifically targeting France Insoumise (LFI) candidates in Marseille, Roubaix and Toulouse. “We know that these interferences originate from pharmacies which are located in Israel and at their head […] a certain number of people close to those in power”, explains Me Sauvignet.

False defamatory advertisements
François Piquemal detailed the attacks suffered before March 10, mentioning “the creation of pages peddling the worst rumors”, the hacking of his digital tools, as well as “the disclosure of the address of my personal home”. In addition, false defamatory advertisements were broadcast the day before the second round on several Internet sites and applications (Vinted, Candy Crush or La Dépêche du Midi). François Piquemal denounces an intolerable situation: “didn’t the Israeli extreme right steal the Toulouse municipal election?”

Is the Viginum report buried?
The court has three months after the election to render its decision. The outcome of the appeal will depend on the judge’s ability to assess whether these maneuvers could have altered the sincerity of the vote, a complex task given the significant difference in votes (more than 13,000) separating Jean-Luc Moudenc from his opponent.

The affair is coupled with a second controversy. An article in Le Canard enchainé asserts that the investigation report from the Viginum organization was intentionally concealed and redacted by the authorities, for “fear that it would serve as a springboard for LFI”. Me Lionel Crusoé demands immediate and total transparency: “Viginum must produce the full report now”. The lawyers warn that if the government keeps this document secret, they will use the emergency procedures of the administrative court to force the administration to release it. François Piquemal announced that he was directly calling on the government this Wednesday at the National Assembly.
