During a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council at the level of chiefs of the armed forces, at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Ukrainian Chief of the General Staff Oleksandr Syrsky stated that in Ukraine, the Russian army loses at least a thousand soldiers killed or wounded every day.

The information was published on the Facebook page of the Ukrainian Chief of the General Staff.

“Every day, the Russian army loses at least a thousand soldiers killed or wounded. Since the beginning of the year 2026, the total losses of the enemy have already exceeded 141,500 people, including over 83,000 irreparable losses,” he said.

He also briefed partners on the operational situation on the front, the needs of the Ukrainian defense forces, and key priorities to strengthen their capabilities, emphasizing that active defense tactics exhaust the enemy, regain positions, and inflict maximum losses on them.

“An important role is played by our unmanned systems units. For five consecutive months, thanks solely to their actions, Russia loses more personnel than it can mobilize,” Syrsky added.

According to him, Ukraine has significantly intensified its strikes deep into enemy territory through the rapid deployment of Middle Strike drones.

He stated that successes have also been achieved in neutralizing Russian short-range air defense systems, allowing for more effective strikes on logistics nodes, refineries, and Russian military-industrial complex sites.

The Chief of the General Staff thanked allies for their support and invited the NATO Military Committee to visit Ukraine.

He emphasized the need for unity, determination, and maximum speed of action in the face of Russian aggression, stating that Ukraine is not only defending its territory but also the future of the entire Euro-Atlantic space.

Oleksandr Syrsky also mentioned that the Ukrainian armed forces give great importance to cooperation mechanisms with NATO and support deepening of this cooperation, from strategic planning to sharing combat experience.
