The Dunbar High School band director is facing charges for an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student after a monthslong investigation by Fort Myers police.Leroy Irving Jr., 48, was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service on Tuesday, according to the Fort Myers Police Department.FMPD said its special victims unit began investigating in March after a criminal complaint involving Irving and a student emerged.Detectives discovered Irving was communicating with the student through several social media apps, and the conversations were sexual, according to FMPD.Irving was taken to the Lee County Jail and is facing charges of an authority figure engaging in a romantic relationship with a student, possession of child pornography, and tampering with evidence in a criminal proceeding.The School District of Lee County said Irving was suspended in March and prohibited from returning to campus pending an investigation.
