The Carmes Gallery in Toulouse is featuring three talented Moroccan artists in an exhibition called “Crossed Views of Morocco” until May 16th.
There are three Moroccan artists, including one woman, who have partnered with Sébastien Langlóy, a sculptor and the gallery’s manager in the Carmes district. The organizer of the exhibition, Najib Mtoul, who authored the book “Des livres et des étoiles” inspired by Saint-Exupéry’s work, initiated a program in 2022 to create cultural bridges between French and Moroccan youth. He explains that he was invited to inaugurate a gallery in Casablanca to exhibit, including a statue of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Ahmed Chiha and Bouchra Bifadli Allah, two self-taught artists, are showcasing their work. Ahmed’s paintings, created on goat skin with pigments and delicate brush strokes, exude a dreamlike quality. Meanwhile, Bouchra’s absence is noted, and her artwork reflects the hardships of life, particularly for women, in everyday scenes.
Additionally, Abdesslam Lahrach’s unique installations, made with metal rods and white threads to depict bodies and faces, explore the dualities of life. Each observer interprets the contemporary pieces differently based on their background and experiences. Najib Mtoul, the organizer and a painter since 2012, reflects on the fusion of Moroccan culture with contemporary art.
The exhibition is taking place at the Carmes Gallery on Rue des Polinaires in Toulouse from 10 am to 7 pm until May 16th.
