A fire broke out in a space apparently occupied by a homeless person.
Many firefighters for a small fire. A significant number of firefighters were deployed this Sunday shortly after 5 p.m. in the business district of La Défense, after smoke was discovered in the underpass of Reflets, connected to the Builders’ Way.
The fire, which did not cause any casualties, occurred in a technical room apparently occupied by a homeless person. The numerous belongings accumulated in this small space of a few square meters were completely destroyed.
To extinguish the fire, about fifteen vehicles were deployed, along with nearly 80 firefighters. “La Défense is a place where heavy resources are immediately sent, especially in the passageways under the slab,” said a spokesperson for the BSPP, noting that “the difficulty was the smoke” in this under-slab space.
This type of fire is not uncommon in the La Défense district. It happens more or less regularly that spaces squatted by homeless people catch fire. However, some fires break out in parking lots, for various reasons, and are not necessarily related to the homeless. Just under a year ago, in June 2025, a car caught fire in the Iris parking lot. Here too, a large number of firefighters were mobilized.
