Prices of oil have surged as President Donald Trump bluntly rejected Iran’s response to American proposals to end the war. Trump expressed his disdain for Iran’s response on Sunday, fueling a rise in oil prices before Asian markets opened. The Brent barrel price increased by 3.29% to $104.62 amidst doubts of a quick reopening of the Ormuz Strait, which Iran has blocked since the onset of hostilities on February 28.

Following a month-long truce between the two adversaries, hopes for a resolution remain uncertain as neither side has publicly disclosed their proposals. The situation escalated further with reports of new drone attacks in the Gulf region.

As tensions continue to rise, Iran’s response to American plans remain vague, with reports indicating a gradual reopening of the Ormuz Strait. Tehran is also allegedly considering “diluting” enriched uranium and sending the rest to a third country. Concerns regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions persist, with Washington and other nations suspecting Iran of seeking nuclear weapons under the guise of civil nuclear enrichment.

The conflict has already claimed thousands of lives across Iran and Lebanon. However, hopes for a peaceful resolution are dim as drone attacks targeting various Gulf states intensify. This volatile situation has prompted the UK and France to spearhead efforts for an international coalition to secure the Ormuz Strait post-conflict.

As diplomatic efforts unfold, the region remains on edge, with any further military deployment likely to trigger swift and decisive responses from the Iranian military. With the international community closely monitoring the situation, the prospect of peace in the region hangs in the balance.
