This summer, the ski jumps of the Jura Mountains will host the third stage of the Nordic combined Summer Grand Prix from August 21st to 23rd, 2026. The event will feature an international competition and festive activities.
The Chaux-Neuve ski jumps have been part of the Nordic combined summer calendar, known as the Summer Grand Prix, since August 2024. This edition will host a world-class championship, bringing together up to 16 different nations including France, Finland, Poland, etc. along with cultural events. “The goal is to break the norms by mixing sports and culture, with a touch of punk, music, street theater, and a circus show,” said Aurélien Bouveret, in charge of the festive and cultural organization of the event.
Franche-Comté at the heart of the event
To celebrate the 30th edition of the World Championship ski jumps in Chaux-Neuve in both winter and summer, an evening will be organized under a tent on Saturday night. This structure will be named “Fabrice Guy the Rock Opera” to honor the former Franche-Comté athlete, the first French Olympic champion in Nordic combined in 1992.
“Nordic combined is in the DNA of the people of Franche-Comté. 90% of the French A team in Nordic combined is from Franche-Comté,” stated Stéphane Invernizzi, president of the International Nordic Site Association (ASNI) of Chaux-Neuve. Marie-Guite Dufay, honorary president of ASNI in Chaux-Neuve, confirmed this view: “Nordic combined, from what I have seen, is the heart of the territory [of Franche-Comté].”
“It’s a chance to be able to compete at home, in front of loved ones, with an amazing crowd and a very special atmosphere,” shared Romane Baud, a skier from the French 2025-2026 Nordic combined team, along with other national and international athletes in the sport. German skier Johannes Rydzek said: “I came here for the vibe, it’s incredible” – translated from English to French.
Events from August 21st to 23rd
A classic individual stage where each athlete competes by covering the longest distance, performing stylistic moves, and finishing with the cross-country ski race that marks the end of the event.
Chaux-Neuve ski jumps will also offer a mixed team stage, the only one in the Nordic combined summer championship. Gender inclusivity in Nordic sports is identified as a priority by the president of ASNI: “We absolutely want to integrate girls into this Olympic sphere and into the future of Nordic sports,” emphasizing the importance after the absence of women’s Nordic combined events at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
