For over twenty years, Pékin Express has evolved, but this season marks a return to the essentials: banned GPS, absence of translation tools, new game mechanics, and an unprecedented itinerary. Now more than ever, the candidates must rely on their instincts and their ability to adapt.
Ayutthaya, a historic backdrop for a turning point in the competition
It is in Ayutthaya that this decisive stage begins. The ancient capital of the kingdom of Siam for nearly four centuries, the city was once one of the most prosperous in the world, attracting merchants from Europe, Japan, and China.
Today, its impressive ruins, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, provide a spectacular and historically charged setting for the start of this decisive race.
An unprecedented rule: running in grouped teams
A major innovation of this stage: candidates will no longer run only in pairs, but in grouped teams. Two groups, each composed of two pairs, must advance together throughout the race.
This mechanic disrupts the usual references. Candidates will now have to deal with the strengths, as well as the weaknesses, of their partners. Coordination, communication, and collective strategy will be essential for efficient progress.
The stakes are clear: their destiny is linked. Either the teams qualify together for the semi-finals, or they face each other in the final duel.

Tense cohabitation… and moments of complicity
This collective dynamic concerns not only the race but also the evenings!
Finding accommodation for four people seems more complex than ever in a country where hospitality is known to be warm. Between organization, fatigue, and competition pressure, tensions could quickly arise.
But these shared moments could also strengthen the ties between the candidates, giving rise to unexpected moments of complicity.
A pivotal stage on the doorstep of the semi-finals
At this stage of the competition, every detail counts. This quarter-final stage could completely redistribute the cards and decide the fate of the teams still in the running.
Between collective strategy, managing tensions, and the race against time, candidates will have to push themselves to hope to secure their place in the semi-finals.
In Pékin Express, the adventure now unfolds for four people… and more than ever, nothing is guaranteed.
