Nedra Talley Ross, the last surviving member of the 1960s bee-hived pop band the Ronettes, has passed away at the age of 80. Her daughter and the Ronettes’ official Instagram account confirmed her death, which occurred at her home on Sunday.

Ross, along with her cousins, performed hits such as “Be My Baby” and “Walking in the Rain” as part of the Ronettes, who became a prominent group in the girl-group era with the support of Phil Spector.

In her acceptance speech at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, Ross reflected on the highs and lows of show business and the importance of her family’s support. She expressed gratitude for the fun times she had with the group.

Born and raised in New York City, Ross, along with her sisters Veronica “Ronnie” and Estelle Bennett, released their debut album in 1964. The album, “Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes, Featuring Veronica,” included several tracks that charted on the U.S. Billboard charts.

The Ronettes enjoyed success with songs like “Sleigh Ride” and “Be My Baby,” the latter of which was featured in various films and TV shows over the years. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, where they were praised by Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones for their vocal talent.

After the group disbanded, Ross pursued Christian music and was married to DJ and television personality Scott Ross until his passing in 2023. Despite a legal battle over royalties with Spector, Ross continued to be involved in music. She is survived by four children.

Ronnie Spector passed away in 2022 at the age of 78, while Estelle Bennett died in 2009 at the age of 67. The death of Nedra Talley Ross marks the end of an era for the iconic group, leaving behind a legacy of timeless music.
