Premier team outside of the federal structure at the national level, the 3MNA made a strong impact at the French championships. Let’s look back at this success with Caroline Zwierz, one of the two co-presidents of the Montpellier club.
Did the club have high ambitions for these French championships?
Absolutely. With their coaches Maëva Machecourt and Louane Souris, the girls (Elisa Baur, Emma Brandy, Candice Dode, Lina Guirao, Pauline Labat, Hanae Piva, Lucie Roussel, Vaena Souris, and Leana Vanrycke) had high ambitions and they are even more satisfied as they have been swimming these routines for two years. This gold medal is a consecration for the club.
For the club, finishing as the top team in France outside of sports-study structures is quite a performance.
Yes, it’s a magnificent reward for the 3MNA, but especially for our swimmers. The girls juggle daily between their classes and artistic swimming training. It is only through their commitment and tremendous dedication that they reach this level. It is also a real collective adventure, as they follow each other over the years.
Can these excellent results help in the development of the club?
Yes, of course. Internally, it puts stars in the eyes of the younger ones. And externally, such results help promote our sport and inspire vocations, both in girls and boys.
“The Olympics have done a lot of good for our sport”
Beyond these results, do you feel enthusiasm for the discipline?
Yes, I feel like there is increasing visibility. The Olympics have done a lot of good for our sport, with an influx of requests for the following school year. Now, we need to ensure that we continue this positive momentum, especially with the male audience.
What are the ambitions for the coming months?
We will have the French youth championships the week of May 5, then the “Future” section which will start its season at the end of May, not to mention the French championships in Sète on June 29. The seniors will also start the bulk of the competitions. The goal is to continue on this momentum, to achieve good results, and to continue attracting even more people.
