Since the fragile ceasefire came into effect on October 10, around 770 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza. Three people were killed by an Israeli strike in the southern Gaza Strip on Monday night. Meanwhile, Israeli military aircraft were seen flying over southern Gaza during the night.
The conflict began on October 7, 2023, after the unprecedented attack by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas on Israeli soil. The retaliatory campaign by Israel has resulted in at least 72,549 deaths in Gaza, mostly civilians, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health. These numbers have been deemed reliable by the UN. Among the casualties, approximately 38,000 are women and girls, according to UN Women. On average, at least 47 women and girls have been killed each day.
Earlier this month, two drivers working for UNICEF were killed by Israeli soldiers in the northern Gaza Strip, as reported by the UN agency. The Israeli army claims that at least five of its soldiers have been killed in Gaza since October 10.
