The Middle East at the heart of the evolution of French opinion on world geopolitics

International instability in Ukraine, Gaza, and Iran is leading to a clear hardening of French public opinion on foreign affairs. This observation comes from a survey conducted by Toluna Harris Interactive for MGH Partners between May 5 and 11 with 1,240 representative French citizens. The survey depicts a society marked by growing anxiety in the face of international crises.

More than seven out of ten French people now believe that France should “distrust other countries in the world,” an increase of eight points from 2021. This shift reflects a climate shaped by the war in Ukraine and years of instability from Gaza to the Sahel. In this context, a slight majority of those surveyed (51%) believe that “defending the security of the French people against external powers”…
