On the popular Chinese social network WeChat, this organ of the Chinese Communist Party even dedicated an entire post to this compliment.
Of course, Huanqiu Shibao also views this major diplomatic event in a positive light. While this Chinese nationalist newspaper claims that the meeting between the two leaders “reassured the whole world,” this is probably not the case for Taiwan, a territory of 23 million inhabitants in the southeast of the continent, which finds itself unwittingly at the center of attention between the two world powers.
