On Friday, May 22, Sorèze will be the starting point for the 3rd stage of an international cycling event, “La Ronde de l’Isard”. Significant disruptions are expected in the village from 9 am, with the arrival of teams and the setup of the “starting village”, which will offer activities, the official team presentation, and traditional speeches by elected officials before the actual start at 11:40 am.
This is the 48th edition of one of the most prestigious stage cycling races for U23 riders in Europe, the future stars of senior cycling. Established in 1977, the race crosses the spectacular landscapes of Occitanie and the Pyrenees every year. It takes place from May 20 to 24 over five stages connecting Lot to Ariège. For this 169.5 km stage, Sorèze will connect to Col de Pailhères (2,001 m) in Ariège, via Castelnaudary, Limoux, Alet, and Couiza.
Undoubtedly, members of the Sorèze Vélo Club will be delighted with this second large-scale event in their sport in a few weeks and will be numerous to attend.
