During the inaugural session of the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fès (UEMF) Meetings on the Alliance of Civilizations, organized under the Royal High Patronage, around the theme “The Future of Human Civilization in the Face of Artificial Intelligence (AI),” Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, received the “Mediterranean 2026” Prize.

This distinction honors her journey and commitment to a Moroccan vision of digital technology and artificial intelligence, serving development, dialogue, and common values.

This recognition, presented during a ceremony in the presence of His Majesty’s Counselor, André Azoulay, as well as several national and international ministers and personalities, confirms Morocco’s position as a space for dialogue between cultures and an actor engaged in major technological changes.

This award also recognizes the uniqueness of the voice championed by Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni among advocates of a Moroccan “third way” in the technological field. An approach that goes beyond global polarization logics, building a balanced national model around sovereignty, openness, innovation, and responsibility.

Artificial intelligence is conceived as a lever for human and development. This recognition also reflects the momentum it generates in leading the digital transition and administrative reform. A vision based on responsible AI, open to international cooperation, while giving central attention to digital sovereignty issues.

This recognition also applauds the progress made within the framework of the “Morocco Digital 2030” and the “AI Made in Morocco” vision. The goal is to integrate artificial intelligence into public policies, structure a national model based on local innovation, enhance national capacities, and direct solutions towards high-impact sectors.

Established in 1995 by the United States of the World with the Mediterraneo Foundation and the Mediterranean Academy, the “Mediterranean Prize,” with its numerous categories, is awarded annually to individuals worldwide who have contributed, through their actions, to peace, intercultural dialogue, and cooperation among peoples.

Today, this award encompasses 181 countries and over 16,000 institutions, cities, universities, and civil society organizations.
