Paris International Tournament Adds Rowing to Program for the First Time
For the first time in its history, the Paris International Tournament (TIP) is incorporating rowing into its program. This new regatta, formalized in 2026, will take place on the Olympic basin of Vaires-sur-Marne and is part of a major multi-sport event, bringing together more than 3,000 athletes in 33 disciplines each year.
Driven by the goal of promoting an open and inclusive sport, the TIP offers a competition accessible to everyone, regardless of their level of practice and competition experience.
This rowing regatta stands out for its intentionally open format. It caters to:
- Recreational rowers wishing to discover sprint racing,
- More casual participants, especially in yole,
- Competitors and masters eager to take part in a sporty and friendly day.
The races will take place over 1000 meters, with duel finals over 500 meters, in a dynamic and accessible format.
Several types of boats will be available: single scull, double scull (2x), quadruple scull (4x), coxless four (4-), eight (8+), and yole.
Easy Participation, With or Without a Crew
The event was designed to remove barriers to participation:
- Individual registrations are possible, with connections made to form crews,
- Full crew registrations are also allowed,
- Boat rentals on site are available for participants without their own equipment.
This setup allows each person to find their place, whether individually or as part of an established team.
Organized as part of the TIP, this regatta aligns with the values upheld by the LGBT+ Sports Federation: inclusion, diversity, and sports accessibility.
Open to everyone, without distinction, it aims to make rowing a platform for meeting and sharing, in a spirit that is both sporty and festive.
An Appeal to Clubs and Rowers
Despite an enthusiastic start, the regatta is still relatively unknown in the federal landscape. So far, only a few clubs have confirmed their participation.
The organizers are calling on all clubs, licensed rowers, and rowers to:
- Form crews,
- Register individually through the crew exchange platform,
- Spread the word within their organizations.
This first edition represents a unique opportunity to discover a new competition, in an exceptional setting full of significance.
