The Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, met on Thursday with Senator David McCormick, chairman of the subcommittee on the Middle East, South Asia, and Central Asia, as well as counterterrorism within the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, as part of his meetings with Congress leaders during his visit to Washington.

The meeting focused on ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States and to develop cooperation in political and economic areas. Abdelatty emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation between Egypt and the American Congress to support bilateral relations and common interests of the two countries.

Abdelatty also invited McCormick to visit Egypt in the near future, especially in light of the preparations underway for the second edition of the Egypt-American Economic Forum later this year.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister reviewed Egypt’s dedicated efforts to support security and stability in the Middle East, highlighting the essential support provided by the Egypt-American partnership to these efforts.

The meeting also involved discussions on several regional issues, including military escalation in the region and Egyptian efforts to contain tensions, as well as developments related to the Palestinian cause, Lebanon, and Sudan.

McCormick expressed his desire to strengthen the Egypt-American strategic partnership, praising Egypt’s active diplomatic role and efforts towards security and stability in the Middle East, especially regarding de-escalation.

He appreciated Egypt’s foreign policy, considering it a model of wisdom and balance in dealing with regional and international issues, effectively contributing to peace and stability efforts in the region.
