Loïs Boisson comes from a family of basketball players. Before choosing tennis at the age of seven, her childhood was mainly influenced by basketball. Her father Yann, originally from the Croix-Rousse neighborhood in Lyon, had a successful professional basketball career in the late 1980s, playing for various teams before transitioning to management roles. Her brother Anton also played basketball at a professional level.
Loïs Boisson made headlines during the 2025 Roland-Garros tournament, stunning the tennis world by defeating several top-ranked players. While her impressive run ended against Coco Gauff, she broke records by becoming the least-ranked semi-finalist in a Grand Slam in over 40 years. She later secured her first WTA title in Hamburg.
A big fan of Rafael Nadal, Loïs admires the Spanish champion’s mental strength and speed. She honed her tennis skills on the French Riviera, developing a powerful forehand suited for clay courts. Prior to her success at Roland-Garros, she faced criticism for body odor during a match, prompting her opponent to publicly apologize.
Despite her achievements, Loïs Boisson has faced setbacks due to injuries, including a knee ligament rupture and a wrist tendonitis condition. These injuries have sidelined her for extended periods, affecting her performance in tournaments.
