Loïs Boisson comes from a family of basketball players. Her father, Yann, from the Croix-Rousse neighborhood in Lyon, had a successful career as a professional basketball player in the late 1980s, playing for various teams. He later became a manager at Jeanne d’Arc Dijon and AS Monaco. Her brother Anton also played basketball for teams like the Roca Team and Aix Maurienne.
Loïs Boisson made headlines during the 2025 Roland-Garros tournament. She surprised everyone by defeating top-ranked players like Elise Mertens and Jessica Pegula. Despite losing to Coco Gauff, she set records by becoming the lowest-ranked semi-finalist in a Grand Slam in over 40 years.
Following her success at Roland-Garros, Boisson won her first WTA title in Hamburg. She revealed her admiration for Rafael Nadal and credited him as her idol for his mental strength and speed on the court. Boisson grew up watching Nadal’s matches and honed her skills on clay courts in southern France and Italy.
Before her success at Roland-Garros, Boisson faced controversy when her opponent, Harriet Dart, complained about her body odor during a match. Dart later apologized publicly after the incident.
Boisson’s career has been plagued by injuries, including a left knee ligament rupture before the 2024 Roland-Garros tournament. She had to deal with a wrist injury in 2026, which forced her to miss several months of competition.
