For the largest boules event at Pastor in its 80-year history, President Patrick Charreteur and his team of volunteers are hosting the five petanque finals of the Paca Committee over four days. The mixed triples competition on Sunday will feature world champions and leaders of their respective national teams, Frenchman Dylan Rocher and Italian Diego Rizzi, paired with one of the best French female players, Catherine Jeanroy!
Women’s Triples (Thursday, May 14)
The favorites are Anne-Marie Mascagni, Anne-Marie Della-Pietra, and Joëlle Rioli from the Azur. Fréjus is the underdog with Lucie Rousseaux, Fanja Aubriot, and Marion Rodriguez. However, Lysiane Bernard and Séverine Roche have a history of success at Château-Arnoux, with several wins at the National level.
Men’s Triples (Thursday, May 14)
In a very evenly matched field, the Upper-Alpine outsiders Florian Sarnelli, Florian Berthelier, and Stéphane Valverde have something to prove. The players from Boule Sulfureuse (Gréoux), Anthony Magne, Giovanni Ranaldi, and Remy Bruno, performed well in the Peyruis eliminations.
Seniors Triples (Friday, May 15)
Former football star Hervé Fontani teamed up with Hervé Bandini and Gilles Assigal (Draguignan) pose a threat. However, all the former legends of petanque and Provencal games are expected to provide some nostalgia to the audience!
Mixed Doubles (Saturday, May 16)
Fréjus International will compete with Stéphanie Jullien, Thierry Grandet, Nelly Peyre, and Frédéric Bauer. The Vaucluse players Agnès Viens and Youssef Saissi are in top form, along with Agnès Sebbah and Simon Gallego, who are also qualified in triples.
Mixed Triples (Sunday, May 17)
A favorite of the local faithful audience during a dozen Nationals, Fabienne Fassino, along with Upper-Alpine triples Marion Kizlik and Janik Gontard, will challenge the team of Jeanroy-Rocher-Rizzi.
