The whole of Isère basketball was dreaming of a La Tronche/Meylan vs. Pays Voironnais final in the women’s Ligue 2 this season. And this scenario almost played out before BC Montbrison spoiled Voironnais’ party.

The BCTM does the job seriously

With a 19-point lead from the first leg (60-79), BCTM had done 95% of the work towards the final. Clément Sanchez’s team completed the remaining 5% this Saturday evening at the Charlaix gym by dominating Feytiat: 48-22 at halftime and 79-57 at the end of the match.

For the second time in four years (defeated in 2022, against Toulouse), BCTM will play a Ligue 2 women’s final.

The PVBC makes up ground before cracking

For Pays Voironnais, who were beaten by nine points in the Loire a week earlier (65-56), the task seemed much more difficult. But Quentin Buffard’s team – in a packed and hot Henri-Chautard gym – took the bull by the horns: 29-24 (10th), then 48-37 (20th) and 67-52 (30th).

Leading by up to 17 points, Marine Mulumba and her teammates were virtually qualified. But Corinne Benintendi’s team did not give up: coming back to -9 (35th), the Ligériennes finished stronger.

The final score (75-70) gives the victory to Voiron, but the qualification to Montbrison.

The final will therefore begin on Saturday, May 16 in Montbrison, before returning to Isère for the return leg in La Tronche/Meylan (Friday 22), and possibly the decider (Sunday 24) in case of one win each.
