Regional Football 2: Sébastien Navarri will pass the baton at the end of the season to FC des Graves

Over the seasons, despite a constant concern to prevent this pitfall, I had the feeling of becoming redundant. In recent months, I felt like I had reached the end of the adventure, no longer fully able to maintain the good collective dynamic and/or to make the group progress sufficiently. This feeling gradually led me to make the decision today that would best serve the interests of the club.

It has not been easy, especially when human relationships are taken into account, but after long months of reflection – setting aside emotions – this choice had become obvious to me.

It is a possibility that I will discuss with my president, Christophe Champeaud. As of today, none of that has been addressed, let alone decided.

At the moment, it’s clearly no. I have only known one club, I feel very good there and believe I can still be useful in a new role to define.

I have many, some more poignant than others. The rise – historic for the club – in Regional 1 in 2022 and the 6th round of the Coupe de France played unfortunately behind closed doors, against Arlac-Mérignac (N3 at the time), during Covid are at the top of the list. The match against Boulazac during the promotion to R1, the series of ten unbeaten matches in 2024 are also very good memories.

I have been spared, at least I don’t remember any. Maybe during the 2024-2025 season, when I struggled a lot to find the keys to revive the team’s dynamic.

FCG is a unique club, transparent, family-oriented, in which human values hold a central place. Sportingly, it must be able to maintain its place in the second regional tier, which will be less and less obvious with the tightening of the hierarchical pyramid and the constant technical, athletic progression of this level. However, to achieve this without denying its fundamental values, it will need to be more demanding, more competitive in its way of preparing and approaching challenges.

The FCG is a club with a singular history, with a transparent, family environment, and with human values at its core. In terms of sports, the club must ensure its place in the second tier of the regional hierarchy, which will become increasingly challenging due to the tightening of competition and the constant improvements in technical and athletic skills at this level. Nonetheless, to succeed while staying true to its core values, the club will need to be more demanding and competitive in its preparations and approach to matches.

My message that evening would likely focus on the gratitude I feel towards the players, staff, and supporters for their dedication and support throughout my time at the club.
