Author of an excellent hammer throw competition with a second place obtained at the Nairobi Meeting, Rose Loga breaks her personal record with a throw of 75.19m and becomes the second best performance achieved by a Frenchwoman.

The French record of Alexandra Tavernier in the hammer throw remains intact, but for how long? The nine-time French Champion – 4th at the Tokyo Olympics – took the French women’s hammer throw record in 2021 with a superb throw of 75.38m. A record that has stood since then, but was close to being beaten this Friday at the Nairobi Meeting in Kenya.

Loga makes history

In a competition largely dominated by Canadian Camryn Rogers – double world champion and Olympic champion – who won with a throw of 80.03m, Frenchwoman Rose Loga distinguished herself by claiming second place with a measured throw of 75.19m. A notable performance for the Parisian who thus breaks her personal record of 73.81m. In great form in this competition, Rose Loga even managed to improve her personal best twice this Friday, as from her first throw she achieved an excellent 74.73m, becoming her best mark.

Her sixth attempt allowed her to improve her score for the second time, with a throw that brings her further into the history of French women’s hammer throw. With 75.19m, Rose Loga becomes the second best French female hammer thrower in history and moves closer to Alexandra Tavernier’s French record. The year 2026 is shaping up to be the best for the 23-year-old athlete who had already improved her personal record at the French Winter Championships in Nice in February. A continuity that proves that the Parisian is getting stronger and shows great consistency, with the goal of eventually breaking the French record that must surely be on Rose Loga’s mind.
