Nantes coach Vahid Halilhodzic has commented on the decision of the disciplinary committee against him, this Wednesday, after his players’ defeat against PSG (3-0).
The Nantes coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, suspended for four matches after losing his cool over a referee’s decision, said on Wednesday that this sanction was “unbelievable.”
“I have taken four matches (suspension), it’s incredible,” said the 73-year-old coach in a press conference after the defeat against Paris SG (3-0). The Canaries coach had shown his anger on Sunday over a red card given to his midfielder Dehmaine Tabibou against Brest, where Nantes were leading 1-0 before conceding a draw.
This sanction was revised by the disciplinary committee, with the player ultimately receiving only a yellow card, “after reviewing the images and reading the referee’s report proposing to remove the red card,” said the LFP, who imposed a four-match suspension on the coach. “It’s been a quite difficult period, this match against Brest, it has left a little mark, the players are very disappointed because there was an injustice,” added Halilhodzic, believing that his team “was robbed at the Beaujoire” last Sunday.
“If Halilhodzic judged that the result against PSG was “logical,” he regretted the penalty “a bit gratuitous” given against Nantes for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s opening goal, followed by a goal disallowed for FC Nantes for an offside after VAR intervention. “I have the feeling that everything is against us. Maybe I’m cursed,” he lamented. “This penalty and this disallowed goal, can it change something? I don’t know. But if we had stayed at 1-1 until halftime, you never know.”
However, the Nantes coach praised PSG’s performance, “a team as strong individually as collectively.” “It’s a great pleasure for everyone who loves football to see these players, it’s really monstrous. When I watched how they play against Liverpool, against other great teams in Europe, it’s amazing,” added Halilhodzic.
