The formula is original and above all full of meaning. Each game is played in mixed teams, with one half for girls and one half for boys. The League of Stars aims to go back to the basics of football, where mixing genders, respecting referees, and fair play are at the heart of the game, unlike many professional matches where the beauty of the game too often ends in insults, especially towards referees. A charter signed by players, coaches, and parents frames the event around fair play, humility, rigor, and openness to others. A reading contest, prepared in advance in clubs, strengthens this educational and cultural approach.
Initiated by General Pierre de Villiers and François Morinière, the League of Stars was launched at the Hôtel des Invalides, in the presence of ambassadors Mickaël Landreau and Gaëtane Thiney, as well as sponsor Laurent Paganelli. “I would like our football to remain a source of unity,” summarized Pierre de Villiers.
“We need to teach these values to the young. What is beautiful here is the absence of disputes, as well as a true spirit of respect and conviviality.”
