Barra was lined with the effervescence of athletes, bargain hunters, and gardeners last Sunday. At dawn, the Autour de la Vie scolaire association allowed the setting up of numerous stands around the market hall, as well as a stall of plants and flowers run by volunteers. The funds raised will contribute to financing school outings.
Also in the morning, the 6th Jean-Pierre-Baqu challenge took place, the annual meeting of runners and walkers, jointly organized by the voluntary gym association and the festival committee. Over 150 people gathered at the sports hall for the start. Two routes were offered: 13.7 km or 8.5 km. For the 13.7 km, 80 runners were registered. The winners are, in each category: Loïc Derrey from L’Isle-Bouzon and Jessica Warg from the Astarac Fond Club in Mirande. Sixty participants took part in the 8 km. The winners are Aurélien Bonnassies from Stade Rodez Athletic and Martina Martin-Stoiljkovski from AC Auch. There were 90 walkers on the same route.
After the successive arrivals of the runners and walkers, the prize-giving took place in the presence of the mayor, Emerick Dalla-Barba, and the departmental councilor, Michaël Aurora. Everyone could then eat on site and enjoy this beautiful spring day in the aisles of the flea market.
