What is now known as the “Patrick Bruel affair” is far from dying down. For several weeks, the singer and actor has been facing a wave of accusations of sexual assaults and rapes. About thirty women have testified against him, including presenter Flavie Flament, who accuses him of rape when she was only 16 years old. In total, thirteen complaints have been filed in France and Belgium, and five investigations are currently ongoing.

Despite this increasingly tense situation, Patrick Bruel is preparing to embark on a massive anniversary tour across France, with a lineup of as many as forty-three cities. This prospect clearly does not sit well with everyone, fueling an increasingly lively debate. Since last April, several feminist collectives have launched a petition demanding the cancellation of all his concerts.

Many Celebrities Sign Against Patrick Bruel

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, the petition surpassed 40,000 signatures on the site Change.org, evidence that the mobilization is not waning. Among the signatories of this statement, several celebrities have chosen to publicly engage, such as actress Anna Mouglalis, who went even further by speaking out this Sunday, May 24 on BFMTV to address the accusations against the singer. And that’s not all.

Since the launch of the petition, more than fifty artists, collectives, and feminist associations had already signed, as reported by l’Humanité. Among them are actresses Corinne Masiero and Anouk Grinberg, journalist Giulia Fois, comedian Audrey Vernon, writers Florence Porcel and Florence Mendez, comedians Elodie Arnould and Julie Conti, and singer Pomme, all calling for the complete cancellation of the tour.

Tribune, Organization… Is it Really Possible to Cancel the Singer’s Tour?

As highlighted by La Tribune Dimanche, canceling Patrick Bruel’s tour is not a simple matter legally and financially. “As long as there are no objective judicial elements targeting the artist, such as custody or indictment, insurance usually refuses to cover,” explained Simon Clemenceau, a lawyer in Paris. Not to mention that the cancellation would result in “several million euros” in losses, according to estimates.

For Marie Meschi, media liaison for the feminist collective Nous Toutes and the initiator of the petition, maintaining the artist’s tour would send a much graver signal. “Keeping the stage open to Patrick Bruel sends the disastrous signal to women that their voice has no place in the public arena,” she warned in the newspaper on May 24. A warning that alone sums up the symbolic significance of the debate. Stay tuned…
