On Friday, May 29, the local association Un pas avec Octavia is organizing a special evening with the Vernon cinema in Eure. The film “L’Arnaqueuse”, released on April 22, will be screened at 8:30 pm and will be accompanied by a cocktail reception at 7:30 pm. This event, initiated by Vernon jeweler and new association member Christophe Bossard, aims to collect donations for the medical care of Octavia, a 3-year-old girl with cerebral palsy.
Financing a new walker
The girl quickly suffered brain bleeds that later led to cerebral palsy. She cannot walk without her walker and has motor difficulties. She receives injections to relax her muscles, enabling her to walk more easily.
“We hope to raise 2,000 euros to fund a new walker. It needs to be regularly replaced to match Octavia’s growth,” said Christophe Bossard, a member of the Un pas pour Octavia association.
The jeweler, also a member of the Lions club, was moved by Octavia’s story and decided to organize a charity event for the association.
“A true cocktail”
The event will also feature the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, which will screen a short video before the film to explain the disease. Another video will trace Octavia’s journey from birth.
This event aims to raise awareness among viewers. Both the foundation and the Un pas pour Octavia association will have a stand at the cinema entrance for donations. The cocktail reception costs 15 euros for adults and 10 euros for children under 15. The proceeds will go to the association and the foundation. Attendees can also watch the film without purchasing the cocktail.
“It will be a real cocktail and not just peanuts,” joked Bossard. A raffle will also be organized with contributions from various event partners.
Practical information
The event will take place on Friday, May 29, starting at 7:30 pm at the cinema. Reservations can be made at the box office or via email [email protected].
