Summit meeting on the theme of water between the baritone Stéphane Degout and conductor Roberto González Monjas at the head of the Orchestre national du Capitole, Saturday, May 23, in Toulouse.
Used to the stage of the Capitole theater where he is regularly programmed in opera, the lyric singer Stéphane Degout will be at the Halle aux Grains on Saturday, May 23, for a concert on the theme of water. Magnificent in French melody, the famous baritone will certainly feel at home with Chausson’s “Poème de l’amour et de la mer” and Ropartz’s “Quatre Poèmes”, where poetic imagination blends elements and feelings.
This musical evening around water will also take us to Italy with Respighi’s “Fountains of Rome”.
The other highlight of the evening will be the presence in Toulouse of the young Spanish conductor Roberto Gonzalez Monjas, who will conduct the Orchestre national du Capitole. Chief conductor of the Mozarteum Orchestra in Salzburg, he is enjoying a successful career start.
Before fully focusing on conducting, Roberto Gonzalez Monjas had a career as a violinist, which he still practices. He was the first solo violin of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome for six years. During his first invitation to the Capitole Orchestra, he performed the solo violin part of Mozart’s “Concerto No. 3” in addition to conducting, which led him to become a conductor.
