Michael B. Jordan announced the television series adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ novel “Fourth Wing,” which is the first book in a literary saga planned to be developed into six volumes.
A fascinating project. It was during the grand event organized by Amazon at the Beacon Theater in New York on Monday, May 11th, that Michael B. Jordan, wearing his producer hat through his company Outlier Society Productions, announced the television series adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ novel “Fourth Wing.” This project has been in development at Prime Video for 2 and a half years, and he aims to see it through to completion.
Released in bookstores in May 2023, this literary saga, which currently consists of three volumes, with three more to come as part of a series called “The Empyrean,” has managed to captivate millions of readers worldwide. The story follows the adventures of Violet Sorrengail, a 20-year-old student who aspires to join the Scribes quadrant, tasked with documenting history, at the War Academy of Basgiath in the fictional country of Navarre.
But her destiny is thwarted when her mother, a prominent general at the Academy, orders her to choose another path, one that will make her a rider and a dragon trainer. Forced to join the Cavaliers quadrant despite her frail physique, Violet must survive a series of perilous trials and bond with a dragon in order to join the war front in which Navarre is involved.
The young woman will also be targeted by other malicious riders, including Jack Barlowe, a sadistic first-year classmate who has sworn to kill her, and Xaden Riorson, a third-year student whose father led a rebellion against Navarre before being killed by Violet’s mother. Fortunately, she will also have the support of her friends, Rhiannon Matthias, Sawyer Henrick, and Ridoc Gamlyn.
