While 15 new accusations are being brought against Patrick Bruel, a 33-year-old woman claims to have been sexually assaulted in 2019 during what was presented as a professional meeting with the singer, supported by his fans. This anonymous testimony adds to the numerous statements collected in recent months. Despite these allegations being made public and a call for a boycott, Patrick Bruel denies the accusations and maintains his innocence before the law.
A new testimony reignites the controversy
Last March, an investigation by Mediapart revealed several accusations against Patrick Bruel. Women spoke out about alleged sexual assaults and rapes over a long period, between 1991 and 2019. Since this publication, more testimonies have emerged. On Friday, May 8th, Liberation relayed the anonymous account of a woman now aged 33. She claims to have met the singer in a professional setting in 2019. According to her statements, Patrick Bruel allegedly served her a drink before she gradually lost her bearings. The young woman then describes a traumatic scene of which some memories remain blurry. She explains feeling “the feeling of having been drugged” after the meeting.
In her testimony, the woman in her thirties describes a deep state of bewilderment. “I see myself in his bed, lying on my side, being sodomized. I am not in my body,” she states. She adds that she felt “the sperm running between her thighs” after the presumed events. This new account comes as another Mediapart investigation collects fifteen additional testimonies. In total, close to thirty women have reportedly spoken out since the initial revelations. Faced with this accumulation of accusations, the controversy continues to grow. A petition has also been launched against the singer’s tour, even though the artist still denies all the allegations made against him.
Former Miss Florima Treiber breaks her silence
Among the women who have agreed to testify is Florima Treiber, a former Miss France contestant. She recounts meeting Patrick Bruel in 2008, when he was part of the jury for the competition. At the time, 20 years old, the young woman dreamed of a career in modeling. According to her, the singer took her contact details backstage while mentioning professional prospects. “I wanted to break into modeling, I thought to myself: ‘This is great, he saw my potential on stage, he believes in me'”, she explains. A few weeks later, Patrick Bruel allegedly invited her to attend a concert by Les Enfoirés, nurturing the hope of professional support in the artistic field. Florima Treiber claims to have seen the singer again in April 2008 during the Molières ceremony, where she was working as a hostess. After the event, Patrick Bruel allegedly invited her to have a drink at his place. According to her account, the artist became insistent after she refused a glass of champagne. The former beauty queen explains that she reminded him that their exchanges were only about professional projects. “There, I was faced with an animal, sweat on his brow… And he told me he hadn’t promised me anything,” she declares today. For several years, Florima Treiber claims to have kept quiet before finding the strength to talk about it with her loved ones. Meanwhile, Patrick Bruel continues to firmly deny all the accusations.
