The Met Gala 2026, held in support of the Anna Wintour Costume Center at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, returned on Monday, May 4, bringing together a host of stars.
Under the theme “Fashion is Art,” this edition, co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams, welcomed over 450 guests from the fashion, entertainment, and political worlds.
From Katy Perry to Sabrina Carpenter, Rihanna to Bad Bunny, the evening provided plenty of surprises on the red carpet. Three French women also made a notable appearance: influencer Léna Mahfouf, also known as Léna Situations, singer Yseult, and actress Charlotte Gainsbourg.
A highly political gala, in response to the arrival of Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sanchez Bezos as the main sponsors of the event, calls for a boycott had been gaining momentum in recent weeks. Messages on social media and posters in New York highlighted the billionaire’s proximity to Donald Trump and the working conditions of Amazon employees, of which he is the founder.
However, despite the controversy, all the expected stars were in attendance and Jeff Bezos carefully avoided the red carpet. Unlike previous years, the evening was largely devoid of political messages, from the outfits to the statements on the steps. Some protesters gathered near the museum, with some holding up a bold message: “Tax the Rich.”
