In January 2026, we attended a photo session to prepare the “Minimiam” exhibition with photographers Pierre Javelle and Akiko Ida. They were internationally known for shooting miniature figures with food at the Arsène-Meunier college in Nogent-le-Rotrou (Eure-et-Loir) for a fun exhibition.

The exhibition scheduled for June 12, 13, and 14, 2026, will also feature sounds and music. Composer Samuel Alhouthou, who visited the college, is responsible for this task. Originally from Nogent-le-Rotrou, he now composes music heard on television.

Samuel, now based in the Paris region, brought a lot of equipment to show his job to the students. Playing on a synthesizer, he demonstrated how he creates and modifies sounds on a “pad.”

“I want to convey that with this project. These Segpa students have the right to dream, imagine themselves in professions not shown to them. They are so creative. I want to open up possibilities,” said Miske Alhahoutou, project manager of the EEDAN association.

Students were curious about Samuel’s work, bombarding him with questions. He showed how modern-day rap is constructed, noting their curiosity and lack of access to this world beyond the internet.

“Some even extended the class by coming back to question Samuel at the end! It pleased me a lot; they wanted to continue. I think there might be something to offer in this field. Maybe through workshops,” Samuel remarked.

Throughout the “Minimiam” sessions, the focus was on involving students. Salad bowls, wooden spoons, and plates were transformed into musical instruments to record new sounds for the exhibition’s soundtrack.

The sound created exclusively for this exhibition will play on a loop for three days. Miske is satisfied that participants can say they were involved in it. Taste and smell will also be engaged at the exhibition with dishes prepared by the students.
