The high society was shaken by this announcement. In March 2025, Prince Emmanuel-Philibert of Savoy revealed in an interview with the Italian daily Corriere Della Serra that he and his wife, French actress Clotilde Courau, had been separated “for four years.” This announcement came shortly after the Duke of Savoy appeared with another woman, model Adriana Abascal, at the 2025 Venice Carnival.

One year later, things have progressed, and the divorce procedure between the two personalities, who were married in 2003, is ongoing.

“Respect and affection” between the future ex-spouses

It was in the columns of the Italian website Oggi that Prince Emmanuel-Philibert of Savoy officially announced that the procedure was underway, five years after a breakup that occurred “with mutual respect, discretion, and a sense of responsibility,” he stated, in order to provide a peaceful, stable, and protective family environment for their two daughters, Vittoria and Luisa, born in 2003 and 2006.

The Duke of Savoy also added that there was “a lot of respect and affection” between him and Clotilde Courau. During his interview with Corriere Della Serra, the Duke of Savoy had already explained that the relationship between him and the French actress was on good terms. “We get along very well, I respect and love her, and she will always be the mother of my wonderful daughters.”

Adriana Abascal’s support for the Duke of Savoy

Born on October 31, 1970 in Veracruz (Mexico), Adriana Abascal won the title of Miss Mexico in 1988, then participated in the Miss Universe competition the following year, and has since appeared on the cover of many fashion magazines. Becoming a TV presenter, she has been married to businessman Emmanuel Schreder since June 2013 and is also the mother of three children.

It was at the Bal du Doge of the 2025 Venice Carnival that she appeared with Emmanuel-Philibert of Savoy, who confirmed their relationship in an interview with Gala in May 2025.

In his interview with Oggi, the Duke of Savoy stated that he had “forged strong and authentic bonds” with Adriana Abascal, and that he had initiated the divorce process “with the intention of approaching each stage of [his] private life responsibly.” And he concluded: “I am happy and proud to have by my side someone who provides me with such valuable support, Adriana.
