ESMOD Lyon and Le Foyer Notre-Dame des Sans-Abri have come together to create a unique, committed, and creative collection called “Sortie d’Atelier.”

This collection consists of 100% upcycled denim pieces crafted from over 700 second-hand jeans by 70 students. It combines style with responsibility, offering items like caps, bags, jackets, and shorts redesigned in patchwork denim.

The theme “Sortie d’Atelier” pays tribute to Lyon’s heritage and the birth of cinema by the Lumiere brothers. It references Louis Lumiere’s 1895 film “Sortie d’Usine,” considered the first film in cinema history depicting workers leaving the Lumiere factory in Monplaisir. A contemporary reenactment of this event takes place annually on Rue du Premier Film during the Lumiere Festival.

In a cinematic sense, just as film strips were cut and assembled to tell new stories, the patchwork pieces recompose material to give it a new life.

An exclusive selection of these pieces, made in limited quantities by individuals trained in sewing, aims to support job reintegration. They will be available from April 25th at La Friperie in Passage Thiaffait, Lyon, a stylish and socially responsible store run by professionals in training. The proceeds will support Le Foyer Notre-Dame des Sans-Abri’s social actions.

Don’t miss this solidarity event at La Friperie on Saturday, April 25th, 2026, from 3 pm to 6 pm.
