The cinema program of Sainte-Tulle welcomes a proposal from the association “L’Oeil Zéol” signed by Pascal Privet, with the complicity of the festival “Numéro Zéro” which will take place in Forcalquier the following week.
“L’Oeil Zéol” has chosen the director Jean-Baptiste Mees, 38 years old, holder of the master’s degree in “Documentary Film Trades” from the University of Aix-Marseille. The attendees of the Cinéma Rencontres de Manosque met him in 2011 and 2017, respectively around “15 years” and “La vie adulte”. Jean-Baptiste Mees is now based in Montreal.
The meeting organized at the cinema of Sainte-Tulle will present at 6:00 p.m. the short film “La Journée qui s’en vient est flambant neuve”, shot in Canada and distinguished last February by the French Union of Film Critics:
At Corvette Express and Nouveau Canada Hot-Dog, two Montreal diners that maintain the coffee-filter tradition with golden crusts and bacon plates, a playful camera captures on Super 8 film the morning glances, bursts of laughter, and confidences. In this refuge where the chaos of the world resonates nonetheless, each regular comes to break the solitude, awaiting a brand new day – duration 45 minutes.
Following at 8:30 p.m. the feature film “Plonger encore”, shot in Fos-sur-Mer:
Christine, Jean-Yves, and Vasco are between 50 and 77 years old. Longtime friends, they are the pillars of the diving club in Fos-sur-Mer. In the evening, after training at the pool, their silent underwater bonds turn into words: they talk about loneliness, the impending old age, the loss of a friend. There is also tenderness, friendship, love. Small gestures to comfort, help, rebuild. Dive again, together – duration 60 minutes.
10 euros for the evening – 5 euros per session – time to meet and exchange with the director.
Between the two films, a friendly moment with refreshments offered by the association “L’Oeil Zéol”.
