Classical Music: The Legendary Hagen Quartet will give its final French concert in Bordeaux

Founded in 1981 by three members of the same family from Salzburg and maintaining the same lineup since 1987, the Hagen Quartet has excelled in a mainly classical and romantic repertoire (Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, etc.). Their recordings, mostly on Deutsche Grammophon, have consistently received glowing reviews. In Bordeaux, they will give their final French concert before bidding farewell in Salzburg.

But Vibrate! will also be a place to discover talents still emerging. While there will be no competition this year, four different string quartets (AST), Japanese (Integra), French (Métamorphoses), and American (Prometheus) will be in residence in Bordeaux for these ten days. They will refine their skills and perform concerts, including in schools and at Saint-André Hospital.

From electronic to acoustic As usual, the festival will also offer an evening at the crossroads of classical music and amplified music. On May 30, the British quintet Wooden will adapt Björk’s album “Homogenic” into an acoustic formation, followed by Cabaret contemporain, another quintet, presenting compositions inspired by Kraftwerk or Jeff Mills, but played with piano, guitar, drums, and two double basses.

And on May 26, Modigliani will be back at the Auditorium with a Kurtag-Beethoven program, opening the festival. The ticket prices will be affordable, ranging from 5 to 32 euros, with some free events included.
