Steven Spielberg, the American director of films such as “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” (1977), “E.T.” (1982), and “War of the Worlds” (2005), is returning to the extraterrestrial universe with his new film “Disclosure Day”. Scheduled for release in June, Spielberg promises that this latest work will focus more on truth than fiction, inspired by a 2017 New York Times article about American military pilots reporting mysterious flying objects.

“Distribution Day”, produced by Universal Pictures, will prompt audiences to ask “a lot of questions”, Spielberg announced at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. The film will also provide answers, with Spielberg teasing that all viewers will need for the journey is a seatbelt – no further plot details were revealed.

Starring Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colman Domingo, and Colin Firth among others, “Disclosure Day” was showcased at CinemaCon alongside the promotion of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film “The Odyssey”. Based on the epic poem of Homer recounting the journey of Ulysses – the king of Ithaca who, facing the wrath of Poseidon, the Greek sea god, took a decade to return home after the Trojan War – “The Odyssey” is set to hit theaters in July.

“This story has captivated generations for 3,000 years,” commented Nolan. “It’s not just a story. It’s the story.”

Describing “The Odyssey” as a “true nightmare to shoot, but in the best sense”, Nolan emphasized the challenges faced by American actor Matt Damon in portraying Ulysses. Damon endured harsh conditions throughout the production, embodying the essence of the tale across various landscapes and weather.
