Canal+: bad surprise for sports fans, this popular subscription increases by 2

After a price increase earlier this year, Canal+ subscribers are now facing another blow. Some have received communication about a price hike, currently limited to one of the group’s sports packages: Canal+ Sport Premium.

Announcing its annual results last March, Canal+ did not shy away from its intentions to reassure investors, mentioning the exploration of several potential growth levers. Among them, unsurprisingly, was the increase in subscription prices.

As expected, this option has now been implemented. Subscribers to Canal+ Sport Premium with Canal+ à la Demande, Apple TV, and Paramount+ have received an email informing them of an automatic renewal for an additional 12 months, with a slight price increase.

Vincent Bolloré’s group specifies that the bill will increase by 2 €/month with this new engagement period, “to continue providing you with the best experience.” A rather simplistic explanation, prompting subscribers to pay up to continue enjoying the subscription service bouquet.

Canal+ also notes that it has modified the rules regarding account sharing – a likely first step towards ending out-of-home sharing mentioned in March – while updating the list of compatible devices. Also on the agenda: renaming the Apple TV service, technical database cleaning (such as removing special characters from emails), and updating customer contact information.

For subscribers disappointed with the price hike for their Canal+ Sport Premium offer, it is possible to cancel online or by mail using a form available in your customer account. However, this must be done before the contract renewal date mentioned in the email, or you will be locked in for another year with a monthly fee increased by 2 €.
